Having said this about learning, he also mentioned that in today's dynamic scenario, professionals and businessmen turn obsolete as the year ends. Further, it is essential for them to unlearn few things and update them with new knowledge that will keep them afloat in the coming year.
KamathMaam's speech reflected the importance of teamwork when he dedicated all his achievements back to his team at ICICI.

Two Great GSBs - Whistling Melody and Whistle-blowing Journalism
Radio idli takes the pleasure of inviting into its family, Shri Rajesh Koppikar, an artist with a unique gift. His video channel on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/chirchiri) has 245 songs and is lined up with farmaish's (song requests)!
Rajesh will be most glad to have your Farmaish too!! So do write or comment back.
Hear his songs below.. if you have a request kindly leave behind a comment here. You may also write to feedback@radioidli.net.
Click here If you are unable to see the videos below
Rajesh's Profile:
Rajesh Koppikar is an Atlanta resident & lives in Alpharetta with his wife, Jayashree. They've been here since June 2000. Rajesh works for Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. as Principal Project Manager. He's been with Siemens for more than 20 years and has worked in India, Germany & USA in various positions. Rajesh has an unusual hobby and that is "whistling". He started whistling since his childhood days and has mastered the art step by step. Whistling Hindi film songs is his forte but has whistled various Marathi & English songs too. Since March 2007, Rajesh found YouTube to be a great medium for sharing his whistling videos with rest of the world and has received an overwhelming response. Over the past one year, he has uploaded over 260 videos that have been viewed over 100,000 times worldwide. Going by the comments & star ratings that viewers have given to his videos, he seems to be doing a very good job of popularizing whistling as a performing art form.
Rajesh is also the current President of Konkani Association of Georgia (KAOG - www.kaoga.org) and has produced, directed and acted in Konkani plays staged in Atlanta. One of the three-act plays "Baayil Jaayi Baayil" was also staged in Hamilton, Canada during the 2006 Konkani Sammelan and was a big hit.
http://indiamahesh.wordpress.com/ (blog of Mahesh's editorials and writings)
From the US we now fly back to our hometown, Where we have Mahesh Prabhu joining the Radio Idli family as a great support. Mahesh, unlike most youngsters stayed away from the flare of flying abroad. After holding responsible positions in MNCs, Mahesh finally decided to pursue his passion as a career - Writing. He works as the Editor-in-chief of a Monthly Magazine - Aseema - Journal of National Resurgence. Noted journalists of varied opinions like Mr. M J Akbar, Shri MV Kamath and Mr. Tarun Vijay (editor of RSS publication - Panchajanya) find themselves comfortable voicing it together in this publication.
Whistleblowing?.. Yes but not always pleasing melodies, but the awakening drumbeats....
Mahesh has been instrumental in reporting about the insult to great legends like Shri M. V. Kamath by our authorities. He was the first one to write candidly about the ouster of M. J. Akbar as the editor of Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age owing to pressures from the high command of our country. While other media was busy covering glamour, sensation and paid for content, Its only Journalists of the likes of Mahesh who form the surviving hope of credible journalism in our country.
Must Reads of Mahesh -
1) Mahesh's report on Shri M V Kamath - "Is this the way to treat a legend?".
2) Is the decline of the Fourth Estate here and happening?

GSB Sabha Mumbai Celebrates 5 years of Satsang
- a visual report
Chief Guest - Shri Govind Ramadas, a great exponent and propagator of the Gita.
The GSB Sabha of Mumbai, celebrated its fifth year of satsang. The sessions are held every month on the first Saturday, where one particular section of the Holy Gita is chanted and discussed. Shri N. G. Pai-maam convenes the sessions which give every participant a fair chance to narrate his views on the Song Divine (Bhagwad Gita).
The 5th year celebrations was marked by the presence of Chief Guest - Shri Govind Ramadas from Mangalore, a great exponent of the Gita. A well established lawyer few years back, the story of his life closely resembles the story of Robin Sharma's mystic hero of "The Monk who sold his Ferrari". His doors are always open for anyone who seeks knowledge of the Gita. He is based in Mangalore.
The session was also a surprise for me to see Uday Mallya who i knew otherwise through the internet. It was good to know that he is an excellent orator and an event organizer!. I have tried my best to cover snippets from the event. I thank GSB sabha Mumbai for their kind cooperation and support.

Shiv Bhajan by Yours Truly
Two months back i started learning music yet again after a gap of 9 years, from the same Guru - Shri Kiran Kamath. Today during our class, he asked me to sing one of the songs he has himself sung in his album - Sangeet Kiran. A song which was perfect for the mood of Shivratri. I confess to have made mistakes in this song.. most notably in the pronunciation of the notes in one of the last alaaps... do forgive me for the same. Kodial Theru 2008 : A report by Rajanikanth Shenoy, Kudpi
Kodial Theru 2008
Report : Rajanikanth Shenoy, Kudpi
Video courtesy : Nithin Rao, Kumblekar and Prakash Kamath, Kanthavar
Mangalore, Feb 18, 2008
The famous 'Mangalore Car Festival' or 'Kodial Theru" was celebrated with gaiety and devotion on February 13, 2008.
Ratharohan or ascending the chariot was held at 6.00p.m., and the Grand Chariot was drawn little after mid night.
Idols of Lord Venkateshwara(Vishnu) and Goddess Padmavathi(Lakshmi) ascended the 'Brahma Ratha' or 'Big Theru' at Godhooli Lagnam in the evening at Temple Square in front of the Venkatramana Temple in Car Street.
Hundreds and thousands of devotees gathered at the temple square to hail this great event which is celebrated every year as the most auspicious day of the six day long festival.
This 'Ratharohana' signifies the marriage of Lord Venkatramana and Goddess Padmavathi considered being the holiest of the gods worshipped by the G.S.B Community in Mangalore. People stand patiently in queue to offer fruits and flowers to the deities at the theru. By midnight this 'Brahma Ratha' was pulled by devotees hailing the two deities with greetings.
This is indeed the 'Big Teru', popularly known as Kodial Theru'!
Including the Dhwajarohana Day on the 9th, five days of poojas and feast as prasadam for the devotees are offered. Thousands of people sit for three to four rounds to eat the delicious feast with 'Daali Thove' being the main attraction! Hundreds of volunteers serve these people with unusual energetic pace, cracking jokes as they serve. Even match making for young girls and boys take place silently during the festival.
Women and girls clad in lovely sarees or dresses, wearing beautiful gold ornaments and exotic flowers adorning their hair sitting on the steps of shops along Car Street are the main attraction for handsome guys with smart looks and Star appeal!
Food stalls around Temple Square and along Car Street sold Charmuri, Ice Cream, Cool Drinks and variety of Podis to the hungry and thirsty spectators! Taj Mahal Café in Car Street has been a significant land mark, serving hot snacks and addictive coffee almost round the clock during Theru!
Apart from evening feast, 'Conji Feast' or 'Pejje Jevan' is served in the mornings to all the people who normally come from different villages and towns surrounding Mangalore for the Festival. A variety of upkaries, chutnies, pickles, happolu, vodi and fried buttermilk soaked chillies are usually served with piping hot conji on plantain leaf.
The festival ended with Okuli or festival colours on Feb 14 when the deity is carried in a pallakki round the city while devotees danced in the streets, spraying coloured water on one another. The deity was bathed in Tank colony before taking back to resting place.
