Shri Puttur Narasimha Nayak - performance at GSB Mulund Datta Jayanti function

GSB sabha Mulund celebrated its Golden Jubilee Datta Jayanti function on the 22nd and 23rd of December. It was marked with a Sita Kalyan function and a grand performance by Shri Puttur Narasimha Nayak and Shri Kiran Kamath.

It's a great pleasure to present two video clips of what GSB devotional musiclovers yearn to hear - The soul enriching voice of Shri Puttur Narasimha Nayak rendering the Dasara Padagalu and Konkani Bhajans.

Radio Idli and all the listeners, i am sure, will be ever grateful to him for granting us his kind permission to share the magic of his performance over the Internet. I hope our bandhavas spread all over the world will love this experience, the remembrance of which gives me goosebumps even today!

I would like to convey my heartfilled thanks to GSB sabha Mulund who supported me whole heartedly at the event, to record it and share it with all.

I now hold back my excitement filled words to share the real joy of hearing Nayak-maam:

1) Pavamaana Jagada Praana

The immortal words of Vijaya-Daasa speaking of Lord Hanuman rendered with an evergreen musical composition by Narasimha Nayakmaam:

2) Nartana Priye Tu Narayani

Nayakmaam sings a beautiful bhajan to the Mohini Incarnation of Lord Vishnu, a manifestation of beauty and art in its most perfect form. For many GSBs (s)he is a Kuladevi too! Jai Mahalasa Narayani!

With lots of Joy for the new year, I leave you all with the delight of hearing these great performances. The songs above are just a part of a larger concert. I look forth to sharing the same during the new year!

With Best wishes, Stay tuned and Stay beautiful!

Our Seniormost and Respectable Ajja at 99!

Music, like the rhythmic breath of our soul, is eternal.

On his 99th birthday, Radio idli takes great joy in presenting to you the video of Shri S. Krishnaraya Shenoy. He sings to us a great composition of Saint Kanakadasa with his voice and spirits that would make the heavens applaud. WE thank his proud grand-daughter Tejaswini Shenoy, who was happy to share his video with us and share this moment of Joy.

Being a Kannada poet and well versed in English, Tejaswini respects him as her teacher in grammar. Her poem submissions never left her desk without his review and corrections.

Let us all join in wishing Ajja a very happy birthday and seek his blessings.

Mamamale Kaani - Grandma's Lullaby

Konkani Seethakalyan Lullaby by Smt. Nirupama Pandurang Shenoy.

Sitting at our desktops, far away from the lap of our mother, or even the loving care of our grandma, Don't we wish that we get to hear that soothing lullaby once more?

Ananth Joisa's Grandma Smt. Nirupama Shenoy, blesses us with that rare privilege by gracing us as our Seniormost artist. At her strong 73rd year, She has had the privilege of singing this lullaby to 25 of her children/grandchildren over the years.

The lullaby of Seethakalyan, an episode from the Holy Ramayana, speaks about how religious values begin from the hand that rocks our cradles, or should i say.. the voice that sings the lullaby :-).. now thats the beauty of our GSB culture!

More glories straight from the song:

Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava - Parent's special

We owe a lot to our parents, our voice that we express here bears its origin to the knowledge and nurture that they have given us with all those sacrifices behind it. Its time we sit and hear their divine voice through our tribute to them - Radio Idli Parent's special.

This issue is not a one time special, but a beginning of a platform that involves all generations beginning our parents, our ownselves, and our children (if any :-) or if many).
